A Nation in Crisis
|Obi Wan or Jephthah? Source - St. Eutychus|
Jephthah is very interesting to me because his story begins with a family wound. He was very hurt at the identity level. He had a threatened identity. His identity as a son of Gilead was questioned, and his inheritance forsaken.
His father was Gilead; his mother was a prostitute. Gilead’s wife also bore him sons, and when they were grown up, they drove Jephthah away. “You are not going to get any inheritance in our family,” they said, “because you are the son of another woman.” So Jephthah fled from his brothers and settled in the land of Tob, where a gang of scoundrels gathered around him and followed him. Judeges 11:1-3, NIV
The problem was Gilead. He had to have a moment of selfishness, and the result was a son. Being the son of a prostitute has its drawbacks. He was unwanted. He was an accident. He was inconvenient. Sounds like so many of my friends. While not many of us were born of prostitutes, we were born during the onset of abortion and "free sex". We understand parents that want to play around, party, dope up, and be crazy. Sixty million abortions later, much hasn't really changed here in America.
The Illegitimate child
There is something that happens when the child grows up, and sees the picture of his or her identity in light of the truth. One act of recklessness translates into illegitimacy. We have a nation of reckless parents, for the last one hundred years. This is not to say that there a great parents in the mix as well. For Gilead had a proper family, and as long as little Jep was out of the picture, appearances were well kept.
The child of Threatened Identity not Forgotten.
Isn't it interesting down in the land of Tob, Jep was hanging out with a bunch of worthless men, scoundrels, Han Solo sorts. "Wretched hive of scum and Villainy" Obi Wan Kenobi Sorry, I had to throw that in. This is where Jep finds himself, with other rejects, men of threatened identity. One has to think for a minute how these guys got there. Something happened in each of their lives that produced a banner of illegitimacy over each one of them. Something failed in each of their families that translated into license and rebellion. So now, they have a gang, and they are running wild. It sounds like so many of our people in U.S.A. today that have suffered at the hands of reckless parents. But God!
Now God, sitting from His mighty thrown in Heaven, beholds all things. God is deeply present with HIS children, legitimate children of the King of Kings. While in the flesh Jep is a child of the prostitute, in the substance of his soul is created in the image and likeness of God himself. See, God is the one that attached or "knit" Jep's spiritual substance to the tiny bit flesh in his mother's womb. God is responsible for this act of creation of Jeb, which lends his identity to 100% legitimacy.
For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
See, God had a specific purpose and design for little Jep. That plan was to become the ninth Judge of Israel and set the nation free as a bad-ass cunning warrior.
Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the Lord gave them into his hands. He devastated twenty towns from Aroer to the vicinity of Minnith, as far as Abel Keramim. Thus Israel subdued Ammon.Judges 11:32-33.
God has the same degree of intentionality and purpose of plan for every single person in existence today. This is why ABORTION IS SUCH A TRAGEDY.
Now in the process of time, the devil has a way to make brother fight against brother. Now the whole household of Gilead came into alignment with Jep, but the twelve tribes of Israel did not. What I find fascinating next is that the Ephraimites took offense with Jep, and all of the Gileadites. IN THEIR MINDS, ALL THE GILEADITES TOOK ON THE ILLEGITIMACY OF JEPTHAH.
The Ephraimite forces were called out, and they crossed over to Zaphon. They said to Jephthah, “Why did you go to fight the Ammonites without calling us to go with you? We’re going to burn down your house over your head.”
Jephthah answered, “I and my people were engaged in a great struggle with the Ammonites, and although I called, you didn’t save me out of their hands. When I saw that you wouldn’t help, I took my life in my hands and crossed over to fight the Ammonites, and the Lord gave me the victory over them. Now why have you come up today to fight me?”
Jephthah then called together the men of Gilead and fought against Ephraim. The Gileadites struck them down because the Ephraimites had said, “You Gileadites are renegades from Ephraim and Manasseh.” The Gileadites captured the fords of the Jordan leading to Ephraim, and whenever a survivor of Ephraim said, “Let me cross over,” the men of Gilead asked him, “Are you an Ephraimite?” If he replied, “No,” they said, “All right, say ‘Shibboleth.’” If he said, “Sibboleth,” because he could not pronounce the word correctly, they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. Forty-two thousand Ephraimites were killed at that time . Judges 12:1-6
42,000 Ephraimites put to death because they couldn't say "shh". Actually, they died because the Ephraimites called them their ILLIGITIMATE BASTARD BROTHERS WHICH IMPLIES THEY HAVE NO INHERITANCE IN THE LAND. See, the message was clear. When Jeb and the Gileadites went out to fight the Ammonites, the Ephraimites had this single thought: "Let those guys go out there and die, because their all worthless men and son's of a harlot anyway. They did not care about them as FAMILY, they did not regard them with love. God was with Jeb and his band of misfits.

|Who is fighting for the unborn? Not Hillary|
I skipped over the whole Controversy of Jephthah's daughter, is a subject for another blog. That is tied up in Israel's harlotry with the Baals, Chemosh, and Ashtaroth.
